Lloyd Sanderlin began as a custom home builder in Nags Head and the Outer Banks in 1985, forming J. Lloyd Homes, Inc. He had had difficulty finding quality cabinetry and cabinet installers, so he started constructing his own cabinets. Other builders took note of his cabinets and began to order full cabinets or cabinet doors and drawers. Soon after, the business began to make a shift towards custom cabinets.

Over the past two decades J. Lloyd Homes, trading as Indian Creek Woodworks, has installed custom cabinets all over Hampton Roads and northeastern North Carolina. They have been featured in new construction for a variety of custom builders, remodeled kitchens and bathrooms, and even Home-o-rama.
